Side effects can develop during treatment and continue well after treatment. Late effects can develop many years after treatment. It is important to be familiar with late effect vulnerabilities and be comfortable talking with medical professionals about how to screen for, prevent, or manage late effects. This is critical follow-up care for survivors.
