JustSibs Live
Join Ryan’s Case for Smiles (RCFS) and Flyers Charities for JustSibs Live, a unique opportunity for teenage siblings of children with cancer.
April 13, 2024, 3 pm – 9:30 pm
The Wells Fargo Center, 3601 S. Broad St., Philadelphia, PA 19148
Participants will attend a one-of-a-kind workshop to help them develop skills for coping with their brother/sister’s cancer and feel less alone. Then you both can enjoy a Philadelphia Flyers vs New Jersey Devils game together for some quality time, free food, and fun!
This sibling support program will:
• Help siblings recognize and accept their feelings,
• Provide an opportunity to make friends with kids who get it,
• Teach coping skills and techniques,
• Offer an outlet for self-expression and stress relief,
• Create space for quality time with a parent or another caregiver, and
• Promote healthy communication skills to improve relationships and get further support.
Siblings will also receive a RCFS Coping Box filled with activities to help them continue to build coping skills and destress at home.
JustSibs LIVE is a free event open to all siblings of children with cancer, ages 13-18 years old. It is led by Katie Holcomb, RCFS Director of Family Support and PTSD Services, and co-facilitated by Caitlin Axtmayer, LSW, MPH, Program Coordinator for the Center for Pediatric Traumatic Stress. Both are experts in the field and siblings themselves.
