CAC2 Webinar–“The Role of AI from Diagnosis to Treatment for Childhood Cancer”

In CAC2’s April webinar, “The Role of AI from Diagnosis to Treatment for Childhood Cancer,” our speakers explored how Artificial Intelligence is being used in pediatric cancer and how to harness the full potential on behalf of patients by enhancing diagnosis, treatment planning, and patient outcomes.

Dr. Resnick spoke first and articulated how Artificial Intelligence (AI) will play a transformative role in pediatric cancer research by enhancing diagnosis, treatment planning, and patient outcomes. AI is being used to analyze complex datasets, improve the speed, provide new diagnostic capabilities, accuracy, and personalize treatment strategies, thereby creating new opportunities for children with cancer and their families. However, Resnick noted that integrating AI into pediatric oncology will take a collaborative approach across medical and research disciplines like never before to harness the full potential on behalf of patients.

Jess Tetreault followed and discussed how accelerated computing is advancing AI and creating promising directions for applications in pediatric cancer.

CAC2 Member BrandiLee Sawyer spoke third and shared her journey as a patient advocate and bereaved mom, highlighting how emerging technologies—like AI-driven personalized treatment—are transforming the fight against childhood cancer. She explored the shift from her son Finn’s diagnosis to today, where companies like First Ascent Biomedical are changing the landscape for families facing pediatric cancer.
