Thanks to the many-faceted efforts in the childhood cancer community, the STAR Act has reached a tipping point (173 co-sponsors in the House of Representatives as of March 3, 2016).  This is an important milestone in moving the bill through the legislative process.  In March the focus is to push for even more co-sponsors, with a strong emphasis on Members who serve on the Energy & Commerce Committee.  We want as many Members as possible supporting the bill, so that we can move the bill to a successful committee hearing.  This map will help you locate your Representative: Hovering over or clicking each marker will […]

We were pleased to host guest panelist Dr. Greg Armstrong of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital who provided our November All-Member webinar. In just half a century, we have witnessed a remarkable improvement in survival of childhood cancer. In the 1960’s less than 30-40% of children diagnosed with a malignancy would achieve five-year survival. Now, over 80% of children diagnosed with cancer will become five-year survivors of their disease. On Wednesday, August 19, 2015, CAC2 hosted an All-Member webinar featuring guest panelist Lynne Davies discussing, exploring, and explaining: Analyzing the International Cancer Research Portfolio (ICRP). One of our CAC2 projects, grounded in our Research Interest pillar, was to provide a way to keep track of research funded by our members. The result was that we chose to join and participate in the International Cancer Research Partnership (ICRP). The ICRP portfolio contains over 70,000 historical and current awards from funding organizations in the US, Canada, Europe, Japan and Australia.
