On Thursday, January 29, CAC2 and the Alliance for Childhood Cancer co-hosted CAC2 member Donna Ludwinski of Solving Kids’ Cancer and Amy Bulman and Kelley Landy from the National Cancer Institute to discuss the upcoming NCI scientific workshop dedicated to childhood cancer genomics. NCI Meeting Scheduled for Fri. Feb 21

There will be a meeting next week at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) dedicated to pediatric cancer drug development. The National Cancer Institute (NCI) will hold its 64th Meeting of the Director’s Consumer Liaison Group (DCLG) on Friday, February 21, 2014 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Campus in Bethesda, MD. The meeting will focus on barriers to drug development in pediatric cancer research and will include participants from the pediatric cancer advocacy community, as well as private and public sector presenters. Complete Remission Induced By Dendritic Cell Vaccine For Relapsed Neuroblastoma Patient

This collaborative research effort was due to childhood cancer groups coming together as part of CAC2. One year after his last treatment, a six-year-old boy with recurrent neuroblastoma is in complete remission for his high-risk metastatic cancer. Doctors reported this case study in the January 2013 issue of Pediatrics, the journal of the American Academy of Pediatrics, which was funded in part by a joint grant from the Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation, Pierce Phillips Charity and Solving Kids' Cancer.
