CAC2 Webinar–“Decoding Childhood Cancer: The Role of Tumor and Hereditary Genetic Testing in the Care of Children with Cancer and Their Families”

CAC2 recently hosted a webinar exploring the critical role of genetic testing in childhood cancer care: Decoding Childhood Cancer: The Role of Tumor and Hereditary Genetic Testing in the Care of Children with Cancer and Their Families, held on February 18 at 12 PM EST.

The session featured two powerful voices in advocacy and clinical care:

Whittney Jones
Published poet and former Illinois Poetry Ambassador selected by State Poet Laureate Angela Jackson, Whittney shared her deeply personal journey following her daughter London “Indy” Jones’ diagnosis with Pleuropulmonary Blastoma Type 3. After learning she was a carrier of the DICER1 genetic mutation, Whittney has used art and storytelling to raise awareness of childhood cancer and rare genetic conditions, honoring Indy’s legacy through advocacy since her passing in 2020.

Jen Ivanovich, MS, CGC
Cancer Genetic Counselor at Indiana University and IU Health, Jen cares for children and young adults diagnosed with cancer. She also serves as Director of Patient Advocacy and Research Partnerships for the Department of Medical and Molecular Genetics at Indiana University. A proud CAC2 individual member, Jen is dedicated to advancing compassionate, informed care through strong partnerships with families.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this meaningful and informative discussion. We are grateful to our speakers for sharing their expertise and experiences, and to our members for continuing to engage in conversations that strengthen care for children and families impacted by cancer.
