CAC2 recently hosted a webinar, Understanding Childhood Cancer Risk and Early Indicators, on April 22, 2026. The session explored an important and evolving question in pediatric oncology: how can we better understand risk, improve early detection, and ultimately move toward prevention?
Led by webinar series host Misha Mehta, the discussion focused on the intersection of science, data, advocacy, and lived experience in shaping earlier and more equitable childhood cancer diagnoses.
Featured speakers included Logan G. Spector, Professor and Director of the Division of Epidemiology and Clinical Research at the University of Minnesota Medical School, whose work examines the causes of childhood cancers and advances global efforts in prediction, early detection, and prevention, and Jonathan Eric Agin, Co-Founder and Executive Director of PREP4Gold, who brought both professional expertise and lived experience as a patient advocate.
Together, they explored the current landscape of childhood cancer risk research, the opportunities and challenges in identifying early indicators, and the role families, clinicians, researchers, and advocates play in moving this work forward.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for this meaningful conversation and to our speakers for sharing their knowledge, insights, and perspectives. CAC2 remains committed to creating space for these important discussions as we work toward better outcomes for children and families impacted by cancer.
